Just in case you were sitting there thinking you’re the only one with the messy house, the fighting kids, the stains on the rug…the only one who forgot to get milk and eggs at the store. The only one who is stressing over the mortgage, the bills, the car that desperately needs an oil change. The only one who struggles to play nice, to extend the olive branch, to be the bigger person, to be the adult when other adults are acting like children.
Just in case you were thinking you’re the only one who can’t seem to kick the grief and sadness to the curb. The only one who has rolls and comforts herself with carbs. The only one who has to remind herself to simply BREATHE. The only one who’s in therapy and taking an anti-depressant. The only one who can’t write, sleep, or relax. The only one whose kid’s homework is late, lost, or wrong. The only one who can’t cook without burning something or hearing someone say, “I don’t like that.” The only one who has family issues and has been shunned by a parent.
Just in case you were thinking you’re the only one who can’t keep up with the laundry or the housework or the dishes. The only one who skips a shower more often than she’d like to admit. The only one who keeps showing up with her whole self, no matter what. The only one who cries after the kids are in bed and hears ugly words people said repeated in her head.
NO, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE.
YOU ARE NEVER ALONE. No one else knows what they’re doing, either. They might be better at pretending they do. But you, my dear? You are smart and wonderful and braver than you know. Keep going, keep being you. You are loved and worthy and so important. Know that, remember it, never forget it.
